SYNOPSIS
|
Rum and Vodka is a one-man tragicomedy where a 24-year-old alcoholic recounts how his life has hit bottom in the past three days. While McPherson received his biggest acclaim for his more recent plays, such as The Weir (for which he won the Laurence Olivier Award) and The Seafarer (recently produced at The Alley Theatre and a nominee for the Tony and Laurence Olivier Awards), this critically acclaimed play, which McPherson wrote at the age of 20, already shows his ability to capture dark truths, marking him as the “…heir to the great Irish tradition of absorbing tale-telling.” (Michael Billington, The Guardian)
